Jr. NTR starrer Devara: Part 1 Hindi rights sold for over Rs. 60 crores: Report

Excitement is brewing as Jr. NTR's upcoming film, Devara: Part 1, gears up for its theatrical release. Directed by Koratala Siva, the movie boasts a star-studded cast featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan alongside the Telugu superstar. Fans can expect high-octane action sequences and a captivating soundtrack by Anirudh Ravichander. The initial glimpse of Devara: Part 1 generated immense anticipation among moviegoers, and rumours swirled about the film's Hindi distribution rights. However, a source from Mumbai has refuted claims that the rights were sold for a mere Rs. 45 crores.

“It was sold for over Rs 60 crores and it was mutually agreed upon by the producers of Devara and Hindi distributors. It is one of the highest rates for a Telugu actor in recent times,” the source said, as reported by Deccan Chronicle.

 

The source further clarified that the Rs. 45 crores figure was outdated speculation. The price rose significantly due to Jr. NTR's growing national popularity, fueled by his upcoming Bollywood debut in War 2.

 

This strategic move into Bollywood is lauded by industry insiders. The sour added, “Jr. NTR is a great actor and dancer and the timing of his Bollywood entry is perfect since he just needs to consolidate his Hindi film viewers base which he has earned in the last two decades. Most of his Telugu movies were dubbed in Hindi and each film rocked viewership ratings on Hindi channels. He wowed Hindi viewers with his anger-driven roles and excellent dancing skills in varied movies.”

 

Devara: Part 1 marks a significant reunion for Jr. NTR and Koratala Siva. Their previous collaboration in 2016, Janatha Garage, was a critical and commercial success.

 

Devara: Part 1 unfolds in two parts, with the first chapter hitting theatres on October 10, 2024, coinciding with the Dussehra festival weekend.

 

The high-budget production boasts the backing of Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts, with Nandamuri Kalyan Ram serving as presenter. The technical team includes the talented R Rathnavelu handling cinematography and the much-in-demand Anirudh Ravichander composing the music.
