Dulquer Salmaan postpones the trailer release of King of Kotha as a way of paying respect to late filmmaker Siddique

Known for films like Ramoji Rao Speaking, Mannar Mathai Speaking, Manichithrathazhu, Bodguard, among others, filmmaker Siddique passed away on Tuesday, August 8. While the entire Malayalam film industry mourned the loss of the talented director, many of them also shared their condolence messages and expressed grief on social media. As a mark of respect, son of Malayalam superstar Mammootty and also one of the most renowned Pan-India actors, Dulquer Salmaan decided to postpone the trailer release of his highly anticipated film King of Kotha.

While Dulquer Salmaan took to social media to pen a heartfelt note regarding the demise of Siddique, he and the makers of King of Kotha also decided to shift the release date of the movie. In a note shared by the makers, i.e. Dulquer’s production Wayfarer Films on social media, it said, “Due to the demise of Director Siddique, the launch of KOK trailer has been postponed. Heartfelt Condolences to Siddique Sir, Family Members, and Loved Ones.”

 


 

Earlier today, many other celebs from the South industry including Mammootty, Prabhu Dheva, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Keerthy Suresh, and others dedicated a special post in memory of the late filmmaker.

 

Talking about his demise, an ANI report quoted a doctor’s statement saying, "He was put on a ventilator for respiratory failure and his condition improved with medical management. He was taken off the ventilator and was on supplemental oxygen therapy. While on treatment, he had a massive heart attack while undergoing treatment in the hospital and underwent emergency angioplasty. He was placed on ECMO support due to cardiogenic shock and respiratory failure. He developed multiorgan dysfunction with clinical deterioration and was declared dead on August 8, at 9.10 pm."

 

On the other hand, talking about King of Kotha, the film is directed by debutant Abhilash Joshy and also stars Aishwarya Lekshmi, Shabeer Kallarakkal, Prasanna, Gokul Suresh, among others. It is slated for release by the end of this month, on August 24.
