Dhanush – Nayanthara legal battle intensifies: After actor-producer files civil lawsuit, High Court demands response from the actress

As the media continues to report the major ongoing feud between South superstars Dhanush and Nayanthara over the latter’s recently released Netflix documentary Nayanthara: Beyond The Fairy Tale, the recent update is that the legal battle has further intensified. The actor-producer has decided to take this a step ahead, following an open letter penned by the actress on social media, wherein he has sued the actress in court. The Madras High Court has urged Nayanthara, who is also known as the Lady Superstar, to respond to this civil suit filed by Dhanush in the next hearing.

According to the news report in The Hindu, Dhanush's production house Wunderbar Films Private Limited has not only filed the lawsuit against Nayanthara and her husband Vignesh Shivan but also their banner Rowdy Pictures Private Limited. Along with filing a civil suit at the Madras High Court, the lawyers of the Tamil actor have also requested to file another application to sue the Mumbai-based Netflix affiliates, Los Gatos Production Services India LPP over the same matter.

 

Meanwhile, readers would be aware that Nayanthara decided to call out Dhanush’s behaviour on the public social media platform wherein she has clearly mentioned that the visuals in her documentary were shot on personal devices except for a short three second clip. She mentioned in her letter that they waited for two years for the actor to seek his permission for the usage of footages from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in their documentary considering that exploring her love story with Vignesh Shivan was also a key component in the film.

 

For the unversed, the legal battle started after Dhanush demanded Rs. 10 crores as compensation, accusing the makers of the docu-film of having used content from his production Naanum Rowdy Dhaan without seeking proper permission. Although it was his production, it featured the Lady superstar as the leading lady and her husband Vignesh Shivan as the director with the movie playing a key role in their love story. Coming to the High Court’s decision, Nayanthara is yet to respond to this lawsuit and provide a response.
