As Avika Gor gears up for the release of her Telugu romantic thriller Ugly Story on May 22nd, 2026, the actress is already sparking conversation with her intense portrayal of Neha opposite Nandu.

Talking about the film’s emotionally heavy narrative, Avika admits there were several moments in the script that made her pause. “Neha’s journey isn’t pretty, it’s messy, uncomfortable, and at times even disturbing. There was a stretch where I remember thinking this will make people uneasy. And then I realised that’s the point,” she shares.

 

For Avika, the discomfort was essential to the storytelling. “We often avoid talking about darker emotional spaces, especially in relationships. For me, it wasn’t about comfort, it was about honesty. If something feels unsettling, it probably means it’s real.”

 

The role also demanded deep emotional immersion. Avika reveals that the toughest part was staying true to Neha without judging her actions. “She makes choices people may not agree with, but real people aren’t black and white. I had to understand why she stays, why she keeps going back despite the hurt.”

 

She adds that living in that emotional space wasn’t easy, but ultimately rewarding. “You’re not just playing a character, you’re living her contradictions.”
