Red One: Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans team up to save Christmas in hilarious trailer, watch

Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the action-packed trailer for Red One, a yuletide twist starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Chris Evans, and J.K. Simmons as a rather unconventional Saint Nick.

According to Variety, the synopsis says that this holiday season, things get serious when Santa Claus (Simmons), codenamed "Red One," is mysteriously abducted. Left in the lurch is the North Pole's Head of Security, Callum Drift (Johnson), a man built for action and determined to bring Kris Kringle home. But he can't do it alone. Enter Nick's unlikely saviour: the world's most infamous bounty hunter (Evans).

 

The trailer throws us into a whirlwind of high-octane action and comedic moments. We see Johnson transform a seemingly ordinary Hot Wheels car from a toy store into a full-sized, tricked-out Chevy Corvette – all thanks to some top-secret Christmas technology. The banter between Johnson and Evans is pure gold. As Evans' character eyes a Wonder Woman action figure at the checkout counter, Johnson barks, "You don't have a Wonder Woman action figure, do you?" Evans deadpans in response, "Not how it works, come on!"

 

The impressive cast doesn't stop there. Alongside Johnson, Evans, and Simmons, Red One boasts Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Bonnie Hunt, Kristofer Hivju, Nick Kroll, and even a cameo from Wesley Kimmel.

 

At the helm of this Christmas adventure is Jake Kasdan, the director responsible for breathing new life into the Jumanji franchise. Chris Morgan penned the screenplay based on a story by Hiram Garcia. The production team is a powerhouse, including Hiram Garcia, Danny Garcia, Johnson, Morgan, Kasdan, and Melvin Mar.

 

Red One blasts into theaters on November 15.
