Pamela Anderson opens up on playing Femme Fatale in The Naked Gun: “I work a lot on the character”

The reboot of the classic spoof-comedy The Naked Gun is set to release in theatres this week. Starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson, the film introduces a new cast and updated humour while paying tribute to the original. Neeson plays Lt. Frank Deblin Jr., the clumsy son of the original detective, with Anderson portraying Beth Davenport, his sharp-witted partner.

Pamela's character pays homage to the role of Priscilla Presley from the original film. She explains that her character was something she developed with care and thoughtfulness. “I work a lot on the character, before I even get to set. So I bring a lot with me, and then just be flexible enough to work with the director on the character. Whether it’s a drama or a high comedy, I still put the work in.” She and director Akiva Schaffer talked in depth about Beth’s backstory, which was a great help.

 

Of Schaffer’s directing style, she said, “He’s a great director. Akiva is very scientific with the jokes. But I also really wanted to bring honesty and authenticity to the character, and vulnerability. So it was a collaboration. But I see some very sincere and tender moments, which I don’t think you’d expect in a film like this.”

 

Paramount Pictures releases The Naked Gun in Indian theatres on Aug 1, 2025.
