Netflix renews Bridgerton for Seasons 5 and 6; season 4 to premiere in 2026

Netflix has officially renewed Bridgerton for Seasons 5 and 6, while also confirming that Season 4 of the hit period drama will premiere in 2026 starring Luke Thompson. The announcement was accompanied by a sneak peek, giving fans a glimpse into what lies ahead for the next Bridgerton sibling in line — Benedict.

The fourth season will follow the story of Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, the bohemian and free-spirited second son of the family. Though his elder and younger brothers have embraced marriage, Benedict remains disinterested in settling down — until a mysterious encounter at his mother’s masquerade ball with a "Lady in Silver" shifts his outlook.

 

Filming for Season 4 is currently underway in London, with showrunner Jess Brownell returning to lead the project. Joining Thompson in the ensemble cast are Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek, Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Simone Ashley, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, Claudia Jessie, Luke Newton, and Julie Andrews, who continues to voice the iconic Lady Whistledown. Other returning cast members include Florence Hunt, Hannah Dodd, Martins Imhangbe, Ruth Gemmell, and Hugh Sachs.

 

Since its debut in 2020, Bridgerton has become a global phenomenon. Seasons 1 and 3 currently rank among Netflix’s Most Popular English-language shows, placing at #5 and #7, respectively. The show’s prequel, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, also received widespread acclaim, securing a spot on the Global Top 10 list.

 

The popularity of the Bridgerton universe extends far beyond streaming. With viral social media trends, fashion collaborations, and immersive fan experiences like The Queen's Ball: A Bridgerton Experience, the franchise has grown into a cultural juggernaut. It has especially resonated with romance audiences often overlooked by mainstream programming.
