EXCLUSIVE: Hollywood actress Megan Suri’s late father had an MS Dhoni connection: “That’s a beautiful thing that I am very proud of”

Hollywood actress of Megan Suri’s latest movie Companion released worldwide yesterday on January 31. Directed by Drew Hancock, the film is a horror thriller about a robot going rogue.

During an exclusive Zoom interview with Bollywood Hungama from the US, Megan Suri, who is of Indian origin, got candid about her late father Rajinder Singh Suri aka Raj Suri while talking about her movie. Her father was a cricketer who was born in India and later migrated to the US. He passed away on his birthday last year on November 19. The actress revealed about her father’s interesting connection to the former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

 

When asked about her connection to India through her father, Megan said, “I am so glad you asked me about my dad. He is the most interesting part of who I am. He actually passed away recently two months back.”

 

She added, “Any cricket fan would relate to this. My dad grew up in Ranchi. He actually made the first cricket ground in Ranchi. There is also one player that comes from Ranchi. He is MS Dhoni. That’s a very cool thing that my dad did. He was the first person to make it out of Ranchi. He actually built the cricket ground that till this day is there. That is in the same colony that Dhoni came out of. So, that’s a beautiful and historical thing that I am very proud of. I am happy that I actually got a moment to talk about him.”

 

Megan has been acting in international films and shows ever since she was a kid. Her first project Valentine’s Day released back in 2010. She credits her father for always encouraging her to become an actor. “I got started into acting because of my incredibly supporting and loving dad who always believed in me and my love for entertaining,” she said.

 

Megan was born in the US but she later lived in India for two-and-a-half years. She is currently trying to visit India after a long time for a heartfelt reason. “Assuming if my Visa gets approved, I will be headed to India for the first time in over almost a decade in a few weeks to disperse my dad’s ashes there,” she said.
