Tannishtha Chatterjee on her directorial Full Plate opening the Indian Film Festival of Sydney, “Amidst one of the hardest chapters of my life, it meant everything to know that stories still matter”

The very talented Tannishtha Chatterjee, who is battling cancer, has bravely completed her directorial venture. Entitled Full Plate, it is the moving gritty story of a Muslim woman (played by Kirti Kulhari) who must take on the role of the bread earner after her husband is rendered jobless.

Tannishtha’s Full Plate will inaugurate the Indian Film Festival of Sydney on October 9.

 

Tannishtha Chatterjee, who has earlier directed Roam Rome Mein with Nawazuddin Siddiqui, said: “In the middle of one of the hardest chapters of my life, it meant everything to know that stories still matter. When Mitu asked me to open the Indian Film Festival of Sydney with Full Plate, I felt both humbled and profoundly grateful. This film was born out of struggle, grit and hope, and sharing it with the Sydney audience feels like bringing the journey full circle.”
