Shabana Azmi to do a cameo in Sanjoy Nag’s Good Morning Sunshine

 

The veteran actress Shabana Azmi has always been synonymous with an extremely powerful persona on screen as much off it. Even though she is not to be seen as much in films like before, she will be seen soon doing a cameo as herself in Good Morning Sunshine. The said film, which happens to be a Hindi-English bilingual, is being directed by Sanjoy Nag.Shabana Azmi to do a cameo in Sanjoy Nag’s Good Morning Sunshine

 

Speaking about the film, Sanjoy Nag said that, the film highlighted the absence of self-respect for the women folk in the social space. The film sees Shabana Azmi's character encouraging the movement and giving it a final push. Sanjoy also said that, the film is centred around a girl named Priyanka Bharti who refused to defecate in the open, thus, flagging off a movement to guarantee hygiene amenities for women in and around her village. Recalling Shabana Azmi’s go-getter attitude while shooting for the film in a village, Sanjoy Nag said that, while the whole unit would be busy with the set-up of the shooting, Shabana Azmi would go around the village and motivate the locals. What was unique about Sanjoy’s ‘sets’ was that, rather than creating make-shift arrangements in building toilets, he built proper toilets so that the villagers could use them post the shoot.

 

On the other hand, Shabana Azmi said that, after Sanjoy’s narration, she realised that the dialogues what she would be speaking were more or less real. In the same breath, she also pointed out the girls dropping out of school and the women folks being forcibly subjected to rape, kidnapping and other monstrous wrongdoings.

 

Besides Shabana Azmi, Good Morning Sunshine also stars Rituparna Sengupta, Tejaswani Kolapure, Shweta Tripathi and the southern powerhouse of talent Revathi, who had starred as the leading lady of the Salman Khan starrer Love.
