Rishab Shetty lauded by Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav for environmental themes in Kantara: Chapter 1: "Deeply touched"

Kantara: Chapter 1 continues its impressive run at the global box office, earning over Rs. 427 crores in just six days. With strong momentum, the film is now eyeing the Rs. 500 crores mark and aiming for the Rs. 1000 crores milestone in the coming weeks.

Amidst the film's growing success, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav met with National Award-winning actor and filmmaker Rishab Shetty in Delhi. The meeting served as a gesture of appreciation, not only for the film’s commercial achievement but also for its effort to promote environmental awareness through storytelling. Sharing a photo from their meeting on social media, Minister Yadav wrote: “Met National Award-winning actor and director Rishab Shetty in Delhi today. Deeply touched to see Rishab ji’s love for nature and enthusiasm to work for instilling environmental consciousness in masses.”

 

Kantara: Chapter 1 – A Box Office Phenomenon with a Deeper Message

 

Released worldwide on October 2, 2025, Kantara: Chapter 1 is set in the 4th century AD and explores the mythical roots of the land of Kantara. The film delves into ancient traditions, spiritual beliefs, and age-old conflicts, weaving together a story of folklore and faith deeply connected to nature.

 

Written, directed, and led by Rishab Shetty, the film has been praised for its storytelling, visual grandeur, and thematic depth. Produced by Vijay Kiragandur under Hombale Films, the movie features a strong cast including Sapthami Gowda, Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, PD Satish Chandra, and Prakash Thuminad.

 

The film’s atmospheric visuals were captured by cinematographer Arvind S. Kashyap, while the background score and soundtrack, composed by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, played a key role in enhancing the film’s immersive world—continuing the tone set by the original Kantara.
