R Madhavan’s son Vedaant, who won gold and silver medals at Danish Open 2022, says he ‘didn't want to live in his father's shadow’

Vedaant Madhavan, R Madhavan's son, recently earned a gold medal in swimming at the Danish Open 2022 in Copenhagen. He also went onto win a silver medal in the same tournament. Vedaant Madhavan expressed his desire to make a name for himself and not be recognised just as R Madhavan's son.

"I didn't want to live in my father's shadow." I desired to create a brand for myself. "I didn't want to be just R Madhavan's son," Vedaant told DD India in an interview. He expressed his gratitude for his family's support and revealed the sacrifices his parents made for him. "They are constantly on the lookout for me. Both put forth a great deal of effort.  My parents' decision to go to Dubai was one of the most significant sacrifices they made,” he said.

 

R Madhavan and his family migrated to Dubai last year to make Olympic training simpler for his son Vedaant. "The larger swimming pools in Mumbai are either closed due to Covid or out of bounds," Madhavan earlier told Bollywood Hungama. “We're in Dubai with Vedaant, who has access to some of the world's largest swimming pools. He's in the midst of Olympic preparations, and Sarita (his wife) and I are right beside him."

 

Additionally, he'd published a piece on his son's aspirations. "Allow your child to fly freely."I have no regrets regarding Vedaant's decision to forego pursuing an acting profession. His chosen field is far more significant to me than mine. "I'll go to any length to get him where he wants to go in life," Madhavan stated.

 

R Madhavan's most recent appearance was in Decoupled. He's now looking forward to Rocketry and The Railway Men. Shah Rukh Khan is expected to appear in the film in a cameo role in the former.
