Paresh Rawal shares hilarious story of Nana Patekar making a producer do the dishes: “You ate mutton, right? Now go clean the dishes”

Actor Paresh Rawal recently shared an interesting story about his close friend and co-star Nana Patekar, highlighting his bold character and unparalleled confidence. Rawal recalled how Nana was always straightforward about his payment and mentioned an instance where Nana had a producer clean the dishes after they had eaten together.

In an interview with The Lallantop, Paresh Rawal highlighted that Nana was the first character actor in Hindi cinema to demand a fee of one crore rupees for a role. He was direct in asking for that amount at a time when even leading actors were reluctant to do so. Paresh elaborated that Nana's strong screen presence and credibility were so remarkable that producers readily agreed to his fee.

 

Paresh also reminisced about another amusing moment that showcased Nana's no-nonsense attitude. He shared a funny incident involving a producer who was invited to Nana’s house. “There’s a producer — I won’t name him. Nana asked him to come over one day. He said, ‘Do you eat mutton?’ When the producer agreed, Nana replied, ‘You ate, right? Now go clean the dishes.’ That’s Nana Patekar – Baap hai. He’s different, that soil is different. He demanded one crore rupees, and there was a ruskus. Heroes did not dare to ask for it; Nana Patekar asked and receive it.”

 

Paresh admired Nana's blunt honesty and straightforward manner of speaking. He added that if Nana had been present at the interview, he would have spoken even more openly. The bond between the two actors dates back to 1994 when they first appeared together in Krantiveer. Their collaboration continued in films like Ghulam-e-Mustafa (1997), Aanch (2003), Welcome (2007), and Welcome Back (2015), creating a memorable on-screen partnership celebrated for their impactful performances and distinct chemistry.
