The Bollywood star recently took a subtle yet sharp dig at luxury fashion brand Prada over their latest leather footwear collection, which closely resembles the traditional Kolhapuri chappals — but without giving due credit to their Indian heritage.

Currently enjoying a serene beach vacation, Kareena shared a stunning photo on Instagram, where she is seen lounging by an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. Dressed in a relaxed beach outfit, the actress proudly flaunted her OG Kolhapuri chappals, making them the star of her post. Alongside the picture, she cheekily captioned it, “Sorry not Prada… but my OG Kolapuri <3.” The caption also featured humorous elements with a rolling-on-the-floor laughing emoji and a playful punch emoji, signaling her witty jab at the high-end fashion house.

 

Fans were quick to flood the comments with praises for Kareena’s effortless style and sharp humour. Many applauded the actress for standing up for traditional Indian craftsmanship, with several calling her a “trendsetter with a conscience.”

 

 

For those unaware, Prada’s latest leather footwear collection sparked controversy for its striking resemblance to Kolhapuri chappals, a footwear style deeply rooted in Indian culture and made by skilled artisans. The issue escalated when a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed against Prada, demanding compensation for the original Kolhapuri artisans.

 

Kareena’s post added fuel to the ongoing debate about the importance of giving credit to indigenous designs and traditions, especially when global brands capitalize on them without acknowledgment.
