Isha Ambani stuns at Met Gala 2026 in an 1,800-carat blouse and sculptural saree by Gaurav Gupta

At the Met Gala 2026, themed “Fashion is Art,” Isha Ambani delivered one of the evening’s most striking interpretations, turning the red carpet into a living gallery. Dressed in a custom creation by Gaurav Gupta, her ensemble brought together heritage, craftsmanship, and sculptural design in a seamless narrative.

At the core of the look was a jewellery-integrated blouse that pushed the boundaries of couture. Crafted using heirloom pieces from Nita Ambani’s private collection, the blouse featured over 1,800 carats of diamonds, along with emeralds, polki, and kundan. Rather than functioning as embellishment, the jewellery formed the garment itself, creating a structured, luminous surface that doubled as a statement of legacy.

 

 

Balancing this opulence was a handwoven gold tissue saree, anchoring the look in tradition. The saree’s border, hand-painted by artisans from Swadesh Online, drew inspiration from the Ajanta frescoes—among the earliest artistic depictions of the drape. Adding a dramatic, contemporary edge was Gupta’s signature sculptural intervention—a resin-draped cape that framed Ambani in a halo-like structure. The cape, crafted by preserving folds of the gold tissue fabric, elevated the look into the realm of wearable art.

 

The styling, led by Anaita Shroff Adajania, complemented the scale of the outfit with carefully curated details. Ambani accessorised with layered necklaces and earrings from her family collection, along with select pieces by Lorraine Schwartz and Kantilal Chhotalal.

 

 

A standout addition was a custom crochet bag by 3.10 by Guggi, featuring a handcrafted mango motif—an element that introduced a playful yet culturally rooted touch to the otherwise grand look. The ensemble was completed with luminous makeup and sleek hair, allowing the intricate craftsmanship to remain the focal point.

 

 

With this appearance, Isha Ambani presented a cohesive blend of ancestry and innovation—where jewellery became couture, tradition met experimentation, and Indian artistry found a powerful expression on a global stage.
