Here’s what Darren Criss has to say about playing the Navy man Eugene Lindsey in Midway

PVR Pictures is gearing up to release its next big blockbuster and this time the stakes are high! Announcing its new film Midway is based on real-life incidents from the Battle of Midway, it showcases the huge clash between the American fleet and the Imperial Japanese Navy which marked a pivotal turning point in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Talking about his role as the Navy man Eugene Lindsey, Darren Criss opened up giving us a glimpse into his world.

 

Here’s what Darren Criss has to say about playing the Navy man Eugene Lindsey in Midway

 

“He’s a career Navy man,” explains Darren Criss, who takes on the role and coincidentally attended Lindsey’s alma mater, the University of Michigan. “Lindsey did several tours and was stationed in various places in the United States. He did a post-graduate degree in aeronautical engineering at MIT, when he was in his 30s. By the time we meet Lindsey in this film, he’s had a pretty storied life of being a man of the sea and a pilot.”

 

“Lindsey was tough and determined. He would go on to fly during the Battle of Midway, even after crashing and being injured,” explains Criss. “That kind of courage is pretty extraordinary and inspired a lot of these men at this point in the war. They were fuelled by this very raw sense of retribution that needed to be gained after something as devastating as Pearl Harbour.”

 

As for the film, Midway is slated to hit screens on November 8.
