The actress has had a fine run as an actor since her debut in 2018. 2024 is expected to be a game-changer for her as she’ll be seen in three significant films – Mr And Mrs Mahi, Devara with Jr NTR and Ulajh. As Janhvi celebrates her 27th birthday, we bring to you excerpts from her recent interview in which she shared about her childhood experiences and her bond with her sister, Khushi.

Happy Birthday Janhvi Kapoor: When the actor’s hair experiment at the age of 14 went horribly wrong: “I walked around looking like Salman Khan from Tere Naam”

In an interview with HT Brunch, Janhvi starts by saying why elder-born siblings face a tough time, “We are the experiment of our parents. With us, they are over strict, overcautious, overinvolved. It's the first time they are doing this. So, we, the firstborns, are in the line of fire." She also adds that Khushi is her dad Boney Kapoor's favourite.

She explains how her late mother Sridevi had different rules for her and Khushi. Janhvi Kapoor revealed that she wanted bangs as a hairstyle when she was 14. Her mother didn't allow it and hence, she tried to cut her hair into a fringe. The result was comical. The actress said, "I walked around looking like Salman Khan from Tere Naam (2003)."

But when Khushi was of the same age and wanted a new style, her mother promptly booked an appointment with a salon, prompting Janhvi to ask her mother, "What about me? You didn't speak to me for months after I got bangs!"

Janhvi Kapoor further revealed that the siblings once played ice hockey, after being inspired by Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Chak De India (2007). It led to Khushi's accident as she chipped her tooth. Janhvi had to bear the brunt of it.

Things changed once they grew up and after Sridevi's untimely demise. They started 'mothering' each other and being protective. Janhvi ended the interview with a lovely quote, "I like coming home and seeing her (Khushi) wrapped up in a fluffy blanket on the sofa, watching something stupid, surrounded by all her dogs. We don't even have to speak. I just snuggle in the blanket with her, as her dogs bark around us. It's my safe space."

Khushi Kapoor also turned actor last year with The Archies (2023), directed by Zoya Akhtar.
