Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 trailer launch: Avinash Tiwary says even his bhabhi won't show his films to her kids: "Iss film mein tum pagal ho gaye, uss film mein chuadail aa gayi"; reveals his family ABUSED him after watching Bambai Meri Jaan together: "I can't repeat those abuses here!"

Avinash Tiwary, Medha Shankr, producer Vinod Bachchan and director Prasshant Jha attended the trailer launch of their film Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 at a multiplex in Mumbai. Avinash repeatedly stressed that it’s a rare family entertainer of the present era. He also gave an interesting explanation when asked why such films are not made often nowadays.

Avinash Tiwary said, “I feel that in cities like Mumbai, many people have migrated. They are staying away from their families and hanging out more with their friends or partner. So, one reason families aren't watching films together is migration. Secondly, ticket prices are too high. Thirdly, we have stopped thinking that we need to make a film for this kind of audience. And I am saying this from my experience.”

 

He revealed, “I was talking to my bhabhi. I asked her, ‘Which film of mine did you show to your children?’. She said she hasn’t. She reasoned, ‘Iss film mein tum pagal ho gaye, uss film mein chuadail aa gayi, woh film mein bacche ko goli maar di’! It made me realize that though I have done various roles, my own family's children aren't watching my films.”

 

Avinash further said, “Hence, family entertainers are fewer and films are more individualistic. Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 is an attempt to bring families back because I always used to watch films with my family. The last film I saw with my mother, father and the kids in the house was Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023). It’s been a while since that film was out and rarely has there been a film we can watch with our family.”

 

Avinash continued, “We often complain that enough tickets are not being sold nowadays. But when you watch a film with your family, suddenly 6 tickets get sold. If I am making a film, why would I not cater to the family audience? Therefore, I hope it reaches people that Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 is a film you can watch and celebrate with your family. If you’re able to do so, please come back and thank me!”

 

Avinash also revealed an embarrassing situation, “I did a show called Bambai Meri Jaan. Galti se mere parivaar ne saath mein baithkar TV pe laga diya. The kind of abuses I got from my elders, I can’t repeat them here! It made me realize that my own family expects me to do a film which everybody can watch together.”

 

Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 releases in cinemas on April 24.
