When asked how he felt as his work is getting recognised, though his first film had performed poorly. He asserted, “I was not expecting my first film as well. I am a son of an army man. No one in my family has anything to do with the entertainment industry. I was the first one who did radio. From there, I did a few TVCs, became a for a while, and acted in fiction shows. Then I got a film. So whatever I have received, I have got it as a bonus.”

He continued and said, “When I came to Mumbai, I never dreamt of becoming an actor. I wanted to do The Kapil Sharma Show characters. I remember ahead of the release of my first film, there were numerous hoardings featuring the posters across Mumbai. It was a big thing for me. Thus, I feel its poor performance never bothered me.”

He concluded by saying, “It was an amazing experience for me. I feel it is not important to get box office success, a lot of the time these projects give you love as well. I was happy anyways.”

As the conversation progressed further, Abhilash said, “I am just lucky to get to work with a bunch of renowned directors in such a short span of time. I did Faadu with Ashwini Iyer. I worked with Ajay Bahl in Blurr. I got Maidaan with Amit Sharma. I am just pure luck but with every project, I am working with a renowned actor. As I am not a trained actor, I keep reassuring myself that I am doing good.”

Coming to the professional front, Abhilash will be next seen in Kennedy, an Anurag Kashyap directorial. The film, starring Sunny Leone and Rahul Bhat in the lead, will premiere at Cannes Film Festival this year before its release.
