Dharmendra shares a rare photo with father Kewal Kishan and son Sunny Deol: “Kaash! Maa baap ko aur waqt diya hota”

Veteran actor Dharmendra has been captivating hearts not just on screen but also through his poignant posts on Instagram. In a recent nostalgic ode, the Bollywood icon took his followers on a trip down memory lane, honoring his late father, Kewal Kishan Singh Deol. Sharing an old photograph with his elder son and fellow actor, Sunny Deol, standing beside his grandfather.

Dharmendra expressed sorrow in the caption for not spending more time with his parents while pursuing his high-profile career. He wrote, “kaash! MAA BAAP ko aur waqt diya hota! (I wish, I would have given more time to my parents).” When a fan asked Dharmendra about how one can keep their parents happy, the Sholay actor responded, “Treat them the way you treat your kids,,,,,,,if you don’t have kids…… Be their loving kid.”

 

 

Dharmendra's wife, famous actress Hema Malini, had previously recounted stories about her father-in-law. In her biography, ‘Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl’ by Ram Kamal Mukherjee, she stated that her father-in-law was very fond of her and her family, frequently visiting her father and brother.

 

She mentioned, “He would drop by and meet my father or brother for chai (tea). Instead of shaking hands he would arm-wrestle them, and after defeating them he would jokingly say, ‘Tum log ghee-makkhan-lassi khao, idli aur sambhar se taqat nahi aati’ (You guys should eat ghee, butter and lassi. Idli and sambhar won’t give you strength).” She further recalled, “My father would join in the laughter. He was a very jovial person.”

 

Dharmendra was last seen on screen in Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, co-starring Shabana Azmi.
