Deepika Padukone to address mental health issues during Covid-19 pandemic with WHO director general
As the world continues to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, the uncertainty and stress together have taken a toll on people's mental health across the world. Actor Deepika Padukone, who was diagnosed with clinical depression in 2014 and has been quite vocal about her mental health issues, has decided to engage in a conversation with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus around the same now.
“Prioritizing mental health during the pandemic and beyond... Join Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, WHO and I, as we discuss the importance of mental health during the #COVID19 pandemic and lessons we can learn for the future,” she wrote, on Twitter. The conversation will take place through an Instagram live session at 7.30 PM IST.
In 2015, Deepika founded The Live Love Laugh Foundation, an organisation dedicated to breaking the stigma around mental health in the country while also sharing knowledge around mental health and helping people to connect with professionals. At present, it also runs various programmes meant for the general public, school students and parents.
