Readers may be aware that Vidya Balan recently flew to Australia to attend the prestigious Melbourne Indian Film Festival since she is the brand ambassador of the same. Considering that the theme of the Melbourne Indian Film Festival revolved around women empowerment this year, Vidya Balan was presented with the 'Female Empowerment' award for her immense contribution. While she is humbled by the experience, the actress took to Twitter to express her gratitude and shared this picture adding, "What a privilege to receive an award for 'Female Empowerment ' at the Parliament House,Melbourne.Thank You the State Government of Victoria @FilmVictoria @iffmelbourne." Last seen in Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Vidya Balan has wrapped up the second installment of her award winning thriller Kahaani and is currently shooting for Srijit Mukherji's Begum Jaan, a remake of the Bengali film Rajkahini.

 

On the other hand, Bollywood received several awards this year at MIFF with Sonam Kapoor bagging the Best Actress award for Neerja while Nawazuddin Siddiqui walked away with the Best Actor award for Raman Raghav 2.0.
