Ahan Shetty is stepping into a film that carries the weight of history—Border 2, the sequel to J.P. Dutta’s 1997 classic Border. At the teaser launch, the young actor revealed how he dealt with the pressure of living up to a legacy that defined patriotic cinema for an entire generation. His secret? A simple yet profound piece of advice from his father, Suniel Shetty.

“Just be honest, just be yourself. Go out there, enjoy yourself. Don’t think about what people have to say and don’t compare it to Border (1997), that was the most important,” Ahan shared, recalling his father’s words. For Suniel, who played Assistant Commandant Bhairon Singh Rathore in the original, the message was clear - authenticity over imitation.

 

The original Border remains one of Bollywood’s most celebrated war dramas, making the sequel a project under intense scrutiny. But Ahan insists he didn’t let that legacy become a burden. Instead, he focused on staying true to his instincts as an actor. Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 promises to be an epic war spectacle. The film stars Sunny Deol in the lead, alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, and Paramvir Cheema. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, the sequel is set against the backdrop of India’s military might and emotional resilience. It is scheduled for release on January 23, 2026, perfectly timed for the Republic Day weekend.

 

For Ahan, the goal isn’t to recreate what came before but to honor the emotion of the original while carving his own space in the narrative. With a stellar ensemble and high expectations, Border 2 is shaping up to be one of the most awaited films of 2026.
