Bhumi Pednekar speaks on taking a break from work: “You don’t owe anyone an explanation”

Actor Bhumi Pednekkar recently spoke about dealing with burnout and the importance of taking a break when needed. The actor, who was last seen in the Prime Video series Daldal, had earlier shared that she stepped away from work for a brief period to spend time with family and reconnect with herself after years of continuous film projects.

During an appearance on The Right Angle with Sonal Kalra Season 3, produced by Gautam Thakker Films, Bhumi was asked what advice she would give young people facing a similar sense of burnout. She said, “The world has set a lot of norms and standards for us to live up to, that we haven’t set up for ourselves. My advice is that when you know what your personal goals are and what your larger vision for life is, it’s okay to take a break.”

 

Bhumi added that stepping back can sometimes help people reassess their priorities. “Even if you don’t have set goals but have a sense of what the next decade of your life might look like, and you feel you need more skills, more time, or even if you just want to do nothing for a while, that’s completely fine.”

 

Speaking about the pressure to constantly explain personal decisions, she said, “This can only happen when you cut out the external noise from your life. You don’t owe anybody else an explanation but yourself.” The actor also shared that her decision to pause work came from a desire for personal and professional growth. “I took a break because I wanted to be better at my work and also grow as a person. People can have different reasons for taking a break, whether professional or personal.”

 

She concluded by encouraging people to trust their instincts. “Always listen to your instinct because it’s often wiser than what your mind might tell you.”

 

On the work front, Bhumi Pednekkar will next be seen in an upcoming romantic film alongside Imran Khan and Gurfateh Pirzada. The project will be directed by Danish Aslam, known for the film Break Ke Baad.
