When Amrita Rao revealed Shahid Kapoor's mother Neelima Azeem helped her in the slap scene in Ishq Vishk

Amrita Rao, the vivacious girl-next-door who once owned the silver screen, has traded movie sets for mic stands. However, the actress keeps making headlines. In one of her old interviews, Rao spilled the tea on a juicy titbit from her debut film, Ishq Vishk, when Shahid’s mother Neelima Azeem motivated her to slap him for a scene.

For the unversed, the year was 2003. Ishq Vishk, a teen romance helmed by Ken Ghosh, was brewing. Amrita was paired with the chocolatey heartthrob Shahid Kapoor. An important scene of the film demanded a slap.

 

Recalling the incident, during an interaction with Zoom Digital in 2020, Rao asserted, “This was the first time I was slapping someone for real... Something interesting happened during that. So, Shahid's mother, Neelima Azeem ji, who is also a wonderful actress, would mostly hang out with us during the shoot and since I had no formal training in acting, she used to give a lot of tips.”

 

She further added, “I remember that she was there at the corner of my eye standing and motivating me saying, ‘Amrita you have to do this, you have to slap him’.” She concluded by saying, “It was funny and at the same time, very encouraging and finally, I did it and he was so happy with the reaction he got. At the end of the shoot, we were all so relieved because it was a very critical scene. That moment is so fresh in my mind.”

 

Having said that, it is worth mentioning here that Ishq Vishk became a runaway hit, catapulting Amrita and Shahid to superstardom. Speaking of the professional front, Amrita is busy hosting a radio show with her RJ husband, Anmol. Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor is currently awaiting the release of his next film, which will star Kriti Sanon.
