Ahan Shetty REACTS to ‘high entourage cost’ claims, calls allegations untrue: “You just have to be thick-skinned”
Ahan Shetty has finally responded to the ongoing debate surrounding high entourage expenses in the Hindi film industry—a conversation that has dominated headlines in recent months. The actor, who made his debut with Tadap in 2021, was widely reported to have lost out on projects due to allegedly inflated costs associated with his team. One such rumoured fallout was Sajid Nadiadwala’s Sanki, which he was initially expected to headline.
Ahan Shetty REACTS to ‘high entourage cost’ claims, calls allegations untrue: “You just have to be thick-skinned”
In a recent interaction quoted by Hindustan Times, Ahan clarified that the claims were baseless. “I know there were articles written about me, saying that my entourage cost was high and that’s why certain films didn't happen and none of that was true,” he said. He added that the people who mattered were always aware of the facts. “I knew that, people close to me knew that and my producers knew that too.”
Acknowledging that public perception can get harsh, Ahan said he has learned to stay resilient. “You just have to be thick-skinned in this industry. Going forward, it might get worse. These things affect you, but you shouldn’t let it bother you too much because everyone has the right to their own opinion and that's life. You learn from it and move on.”
Ahan On Facing a Long Gap After Tadap
It has been four years since Ahan’s debut, a period in which he experienced both professional uncertainty and personal growth. Recalling the time when Tadap released under strict pandemic restrictions, he noted how the circumstances impacted his early trajectory. “We were at 50% occupancy in theatres, and a lot of theatres weren’t even open. After four days, we went down to 25% capacity and we lost five states.”
He shared that the following year remained unpredictable for everyone. “Films weren't working, people weren’t going into theatres. So, a lot of self-doubt crept in.” On the personal front, the period also reshaped his relationships. “I lost a lot of people in that time in terms of not being with them or not being friends with them anymore. So that also taught me who's there for you at your highs and your lows.”
Entering ‘Ahan 2.0’
Now gearing up for multiple projects—including Border 2, a film with Shaad Ali, and a few others yet to be announced—Ahan says he sees the next chapter as a clean slate. “I'm taking this phase as Ahan 2.0, it is like a new beginning for me. There was quite a long gap for me for various reasons. But this is definitely a new beginning and I am very excited for it.”
