26 Years of Duplicate: Karan Johar and Farah Khan recall becoming “Best friends” on sets of Shah Rukh Khan starrer

Bollywood filmmakers Karan Johar and Farah Khan recently took a trip down memory lane to celebrate the 26th anniversary of their 1998 collaboration, Duplicate. The film, directed by Mahesh Bhatt, not only holds a special place in cinematic history but also marked the beginning of a lifelong friendship between Karan and Farah.

Taking to Instagram Stories, Johar shared the film's poster featuring Shah Rukh Khan in his double role alongside Juhi Chawla. In a nostalgic caption, he wrote, "SRK put all his Jigar into the part! Have so many memories of the shoot of this film!" He then tagged Farah Khan, playfully adding, "Do you remember the 40 lens?"

Farah promptly re-shared KJo’s story on her own IG handle, enthusiastically responding, "Oh my goddd!! Best songs, best times!!" She further reminisced, "We actually became best friends here… and it was the 20mm lens that never came ."

For the unversed, released in 1998, Duplicate remains a cherished gem of Bollywood cinema. The film, a captivating blend of comedy, action, and drama, showcased Shah Rukh Khan's remarkable versatility as he portrayed a double role alongside the effervescent Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre.

On the same note, it is worth mentioning here that Sonali had recently spoken about her grey character in the film. During the promotion of her latest project’s release, The Broken News S2, Sonali, in an interview with Indian Today, asserted, “It was very exciting and challenging for me to portray that character. We started preparing for the role in that way and also started shooting it accordingly, but slowly, as things moved, I felt I became a caricature and not really the grey character I was supposed to play.”
