He then went onto make his big Bollywood debut with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che! in 2013, which also starred Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh. The film completed 11 years yesterday.

In this drama, Sushant portrayed Ishaan Bhatt, a passionate and determined young man with dreams of opening a cricket academy. In this biographical film, Sushant depicted the journey of the legendary two-time World Cup winning cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Sushant essayed the role of Mansoor Khan, a humble and compassionate porter who falls in love amidst the tragic backdrop of the 2013 Uttarakhand floods. Sushant played Anirudh ‘Anni’ Pathak, a middle-aged father who reconnects with his college friends to support his son, who tried to end his life through suicide. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Chhichhore provided a heartwarming message of positivity for students caught in the web of competition in studies.

 

Sonchiriya (2019)

 


 

In this gritty drama set in the Chambal ravines, Sushant portrayed Lakhna, a conflicted dacoit grappling with morality and survival. His portrayal was hailed for its intensity, complexity, and nuanced portrayal of the character’s inner turmoil. Directed by Abhishek Choubey, Sonchiriya was a rare movie to receive unanimously positive response from a large number of critics.
