Udta Teer Opening Weekend: Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan starrer surprises with approx. Rs. 19 crore in 3 days
The Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan led comic caper, Udta Teer has surprised with its trend in the opening weekend. According to early estimates, the Karan Johar produced comedy collected approx. Rs. 7.9 crore on Sunday, taking the 3-day total collections to Rs. 18.83 crore.
For those aware, Udta Teer opened at Rs. 3.89 crore on Friday, followed by a jump to Rs. 7.04 crore on Saturday, and peaked at Rs. 7.9 crore on Sunday. The film has doubled from Friday, and that's a great sign for holding in the long term, as it will benefit from a clean run in the second weekend too.
The Monday business will give an idea of where the film could end, but at the moment it has a shot at hitting the Rs. 50 crore mark. That's not saying that the film is a success, but from where it started, this should be a win for the makers.
Udta Teer is a one-of-a-kind spy comedy, and a genre breaker of sorts, and these numbers are encouraging, but the race has just begun, and the holds on the weekdays will decide the fate.
