'R.S.T.R.L.' music launched in style

Prof. Arindam Chaudhuri sure knows how to do things in style! Chaudhuri, who has just wrapped up his first Hindi film ROK SAKO TO ROK LO, announced the music launch of the film with panache and elegance, defying the stereotype completely. The trend of inviting friends/media for a get-together via a hand-written letter or a proper invite is pass?Chaudhuri decided to swim against the tide and sent across the invite on a CD. In fact, like many others, this writer mistook it to be a music CD of the film, but the moment one tore open the plastic wrapper and inserted the CD on the music system, you realized that it's a classy invite. The CD has the following words printed on it: 'To experience the real magic of Jatin-Lalit and Prasoon Joshi, Planman Life cordially invites you to witness the exclusive music release of R.S.T.R.L. at Marriott, Juhu on October 19.' And the music does spell magic, with at least four tracks lingering in your memory! The music launch of the film was an equally different affair, but in the spirit of Bollywood glamour. After a brief introduction by those on the dais [Chaudhuri, Jatin, Lalit, Prasoon, Kulmeet Kakkar of Saregama, singers Shaan and Babul Supriyo and Shubho Bhattacharjee of Planman], the focus shifted to another dais where those associated with the film introduced a song to the gathering [the film has seven songs in all!]. Shaan and Anupama Verma were the hosts for the musical evening. We had drifted away after JO JEETA WOH SIKANDER. But ROK SAKO TO ROK LO represents the true Jatin-Lalit kind of music, both Jatin and Lalit echo. Prasoon Joshi, the man responsible for the poetry in HUM TUM, also spoke from the heart: Writing for R.S.T.R.L. was indeed a pleasant experience. The expressions and words are youth oriented and sound very contemporary. Yash and Manjari, the lead pair of the film, besides the new faces, graced the event. Sunny Deol is in the U.S., so his presence was sorely missed. Manmohan Shetty and Farhan Akhtar, representing corporatized film-making and the new face of Bollywood, respectively, unveiled the music of the film. All said, an evening to cherish!
