Monica Bedi records Monica Bedi, who made a comeback to the entertainment industry with a reality show last year, is working on Ek Onkaar - a spiritual offering for which Monica has recorded her voice. The album, a compilation of the revered mantra of the Sikhs called Mool Mantra, which is one of the holiest chants from the Guru Granth Saheb, will be released by Universal Music. It will be followed by 2 Pauris from Japji Saheb, which speaks about the universality of God and the strong belief in destiny as depicted by Sikhism. The sound and mood of the album is attuned to listeners crossing all barriers of age and class. Says Monica, "This album is my homage to God who has helped me throughout the trials and tribulations of my life. People think of me as strong and brave but I was totally lost till I surrendered myself to Him and started praying and believing in Him. As they say faith can move mountains, which I have truly experienced. Hence with this album and a lot of guidance from Universal Music, I seek to reach this humble message across to everyone. I will be really honoured if through this small endeavour of life, people are inspired to have ultimate faith in the Almighty Lord." Rajeeta Hemwani, VP, A&R - Content, Universal Music says, "2009 will see a lot of pathbreaking releases on the Punjab front and as you can see we recently released the superhit album Indian Timing by Panjabi MC and launched a promising Punjabi star from Canada, Gurjit Rahal. Thus in the same vein but a different tune, we thought of endeavouring across genres and setting our foot firm into the spiritual realm. This would be Universal's first major spiritual release of the year." The music of the album has been arranged by Anand Kurhekar of Inner Voice, who has provided a very world- ambient feel of sound design to the entire album. Inner Voice has been the production house behind many a fabulous albums in the spiritual spectra like Dances Of Shiva, Gayatri Mantra, Mandukaya Upanishad, Preachings Of Buddha and others.
