At the success meet for The Girlfriend, actor Vijay Deverakonda expressed his deep pride in Rashmika Mandanna, praising her journey as an artist and a person.
Vijay, who attended the event as a guest, became visibly emotional while acknowledging Rashmika’s evolution. He recalled, “I’ve seen Rashmika since Geetha Govindam, and she truly is a Bhooma Devi (her character in The Girlfriend). From that point, she has become the woman she is today, choosing to take on a film like this at the peak of her career. I feel so proud.”
He also highlighted how she handles criticism with grace, saying, “She has faced her share of criticism and bullying. If it were me, I’d react immediately, but Rashmika chooses kindness every single day, no matter what people say. One day, the world will see her for who she truly is. She is an amazing woman.”
Vijay went on to commend the film’s impact, describing how The Girlfriend moved him emotionally. “More than box-office numbers, this film has sparked thought and awareness, inspiring women to speak up. Many commercial hits fail to make this kind of societal impact. Rahul and the producers have achieved something remarkable.”
A touching moment from the event, which quickly went viral, showed Vijay kissing Rashmika’s hand while greeting her a rare public display of affection.
Meanwhile, amid ongoing speculation about their relationship, reports suggest that the couple’s engagement took place in a private ceremony on October 3, with their wedding tentatively planned for February 2026.
