Anil, Abhishek, Fardeen to star in "Om Jai Jagdish":
Two weeks have passed. The outcome of THE HERO is emerging clearer with each passing day. And though the world is busy dissecting the film, one person who's staying away from all the discussions is Anil Sharma, the 'captain of the ship'. He's someone who's always believed in being low profile and letting his work speak for itself.
In a freewheeling chat, the director of successful films like SHRADDHANJALI, HUKUMAT and GADAR looks back on his latest flick THE HERO. Over to Anil Sharma:
I have realised that the classes have liked THE HERO, not the masses. May be, they [the masses] are missing an aggressive Sunny who tears apart the earth and pulls out a pole, throwing a challenge to his opponents.
I knew all along that there would be comparisons. That people would compare the two films. I wanted to make a different film after GADAR and I've made one. Not once was I trying to make GADAR Part II.
When you make a film about a spy, there's not much scope for incorporating emotions. Yet, I did try to fit in as much emotions as I could. A lot of people felt that the emotional moments between Sunny and Preity didn't strike a chord and when I look back, I agree they didn't. But, like I said, the subject being such, there wasn't much room for emotions.
One of the factors that has gone against the film is that people are comparing it with GADAR. That can't be helped. Prior to its release, I kept telling everyone not to expect a GADAR this time around. Magar kya kare, meri hi hit film GADAR, meri nayee film HERO ke aade aa gayee.
