Alia Bhatt to play a rape victim in Udta Punjab?

Alia Bhatt has certainly become a name to reckon with in a short time. Ever since her debut with the film Student of the Year, she has quite literally been on a roll. This young actress will next be seen in Udta Punjab that features her alongside Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh.

 

Though most of us already know that while Shahid Kapoor plays the role of a rockstar struggling with addition in the film, Alia Bhatt will be seen playing the role of a migrant Bihari girl who dreams of making it big in the sport of hockey. However, we have also learnt that Alia will in fact also be seen as a rape victim in the film. Apparently, the character played by her is raped by the drug mafia in the film, which we guess is the reason for her haunting look in a couple of film stills that have been released.

As for the film, Udta Punjab that is directed Abhishek Chaubey, is produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and is slated to hit the screens on June 17, 2016.
