Arjun Kapoor opens up on coping with the loss of his mother, life with his sister and equation with his stepsisters

Arjun Kapoor has been keeping busy with the promotions of his latest flick, Half Girlfriend, which released on May 19. During the hectic promotions, the actor got candid about his life since he starred acting, coping with the loss of his mother, life with his sister Anshula Kapoor and relationship with his father Boney Kapoor and his other family.

Arjun Kapoor’s filmmaker father Boney Kapoor had separated from Mona Kapoor when Arjun was merely just 11-years-old. The filmmaker later married actress Sridevi with whom he has two daughters- Jhanvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Arjun didn't had a good relationship with his father ever since the separation. This brought him closer to his mother Mona Kapoor who lost her battle to cancer in the year 2012, three months before Arjun Kapoor's debut film Ishaqzaade released.

Speaking about his debut journey and dealing with personal crisis, Arjun Kapoor said that his debut film release was in 45 days when his mother passed. He was so wound up that he did not realise the way his mother's passing had hit him. He had barely processed his mother's death and then he had to start the promotions of the film.

Arjun Kapoor still hasn't reconciled with the fact that his mother is not here to see the place he has made for himself in the film industry. He has still kept her room without any changes made. He used to return home every day and talk to her. Now, he said that he stands there quietly. It's been a hard journey for him as she couldn't see his debut and the independent identity he has created for himself.

Arjun's sister Anshula Kapoor had to cope up with the loss of her mother at the age of 20 and father leaving at the age of 5. He said that she has stood by him like a rock as she had been through far worse at a very young age. Addressing as the most mature one, he said that she took care of him when he was falling apart.

After his mum, Arjun Kapoor started taking care of Anshula as there was no one else. She has been like his own child who he is most protective about. Reminiscing about how she sacrificed a lot for him, he informed that after completing her graduation, she decided to come back to India to be with Arjun during the film's release. She could have gotten a great job in the US but she chose to work at Google India in Delhi. Arjun called his sister as his strength as she's been there for him when no one was. She runs the house and his life and has made greatest sacrifices for him. He calls her the unsung hero of his career.

On the work front, Arjun Kapoor will be next seen in Anees Bazmee’s Mubarakan alongside his uncle Anil Kapoor.

Speaking about his father Boney Kapoor's daughters with Sridevi- Jhanvi and Khushi, Arjun asserted that they don’t really meet and spend time together. So, they don't have any kind of equation.
