The recently released web series, Made In India: A Titan Story, starring Jim Sarbh and Naseeruddin Shah, has received unanimous acclaim from audiences and critics alike. It is produced by Prabhleen Sandhu; she has made her mark as an actress in Shahid (2013) and The Buckingham Murders (2024) and now she has clearly proved her worth as a producer as well. Before Made In India: A Titan Story, she produced Bhay – The Gaurav Tiwari Mystery and Mastram. The latter dropped during 2020 lockdown and was widely consumed on MX Player for its subject, treatment and erotic content. However, almost a year later, it mysteriously disappeared from the platform. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Prabhleen Sandhu explained the reason behind it.
Prabhleen Sandhu said, “It was pulled down because of censorship reasons. We were told that we can’t show such erotica on the platform.”
The same year, Aashram also released on MX Player and it became the most-watched show not just on the streaming giant but probably in the history of Indian digital space. Prior to Aashram, it was Mastram that probably had record viewership.
Prabhleen Sandhu confirmed, “Yes and it’s one show that has broken all the records to date. We do not have proof of it right now because it’s no longer there on the platform (laughs). However, had it still been on the platform, I don’t think any show could have beaten its record.”
She also revealed, “We were the ones to bring an intimacy coordinator for the first time in India with this show. Now it’s become common, but at that time, it was an unknown idea. We got Amanda Cutting from Canada and she had earlier worked on 'Game Of Thrones'. The platform was very happy to have her on board. We learnt so much from her. It was like dance choreography.”
She further said, “It was my first show as a producer and it was a great experience.”
