The ongoing debate over last-minute exits from film projects has taken a new turn after actor Ranvir Shorey weighed in on the issue. His comments came shortly after the Producers Guild of India (PGI) issued a strong statement expressing concern over actors, directors, and technicians backing out of projects at advanced stages of production.

The Guild's statement followed complaints from major production houses regarding recent disruptions involving high-profile films. According to the industry body, such exits can result in significant financial losses, disrupt production schedules, affect the livelihoods of technicians and crew members, and damage trust within the film ecosystem.
Amid the discussion, Ranvir Shorey took to social media to share a different perspective. The actor pointed out that performers also face professional and financial setbacks when projects are delayed or cancelled by producers. "You will not believe how many times producers cancel/delay projects unilaterally without any mention of compensation for the losses to an actor," Ranvir wrote on X.

His post quickly drew reactions from social media users. One user argued that the comparison was not entirely valid, suggesting that producers and actors operate under different levels of responsibility and risk. "It’s comparing a company vs an employee. The company will always win. Actors forget they’re employees btw. Come back down to earth. This is a universal issue in every industry," the user commented.
Responding to the remark, Ranvir clarified that he understood the argument but felt the conversation should also acknowledge the impact on actors and other workers in the industry. "And I totally see the argument, that a company will tend to have more at stake, but my point is that workers deserve to be treated with respect and sensitivity too," he replied.

While the Producers Guild didn't explicitly name the actors in its letter, the statement was triggered by formal complaints filed by two major production houses over recent franchise disruptions. Excel Entertainment (run by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani) lodged a complaint regarding Ranveer Singh abruptly walking out of Don 3. Meanwhile, Panorama Studios (headed by Kumar Mangat Pathak) filed a complaint after Akshaye Khanna unexpectedly walked out of the Ajay Devgn-starrer Drishyam 3. Director Abhishek Pathak revealed that the actor backed out a mere five days before filming was scheduled to begin, despite having signed the contract, locked his costumes, and renegotiated his fees following his massive success with the hit film Dhurandhar.
