Actor Roshan Mathew has been nominated at the Critics’ Choice Awards India 2026 for his performance in Kankhajura. The nomination adds to his body of work across films and streaming platforms, where he has taken on a range of roles in recent years.

Speaking about the evolving landscape of storytelling, Mathew reflected on the role of streaming platforms in shaping content. He said, “With more opportunities and projects, especially in the series space, there’s a lot opening up for actors today. Long-format storytelling gives characters more room to evolve and allows actors to explore their craft in greater depth.” He also pointed to the accessibility of OTT platforms as a key factor. “It’s not just about the first weekend anymore. There’s time for a story to reach its audience, which makes it a more open space for both creators and viewers,” he said.
Mathew, who has worked across independent films, mainstream cinema, and streaming series, noted that the creative process remains largely consistent across formats. However, he acknowledged that series offer more time for narrative development compared to theatrical releases.
His nomination for Kankhajura reflects continued recognition for performances that focus on layered storytelling and character depth. It also comes at a time when the industry is increasingly balancing theatrical releases with digital platforms, expanding opportunities for both filmmakers and actors.
