The ‘Next On Netflix 2026’ event was held on February 3 and as expected, it was a memorable affair as nearly 18 new films and shows were announced, that too in the presence of their star cast and makers. The event began on a hilarious note with the announcement that The Great Indian Kapil Show has been renewed for Season 5. Kapil Sharma came on stage and his banter with Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, was lovely. He then introduced the team of The Great Indian Kapil Show – Navjot Singh Sidhu, Archana Puran Singh, Krushna Abhishek, Sunil Grover and Kiku Sharda. As expected, Navjot Singh Sidhu stole the show with his one-liners.
Kapil asked Navjot how excited he was for Season 5. He joked, “Netflix walon, agar time pe payment badhta raha, toh 50 season bhi paar kar ke jaayega! Thoko.”
He then remarked, “Three things used to run this country - cricket, politics and Bollywood. Now, OTT platforms have come into prominence. Netflix world platform ka mukut hai. Uss mukut pe naayaab Kohinoor jaisi mani jud gayi hai aur uss mani ka naam hai The Kapil Sharma Show!”
Navjot Singh Sidhu praised Sunil Grover and the way he recently imitated Aamir Khan, “The show cuts across the society, and is widely consumed from a bellboy to a man sitting in the Parliament. Earlier, it was said that imitation is the best form of flattery. Imitation karne waala jisko imitate kar raha hai, usse bada ho gaya hai. Look at him (points at Sunil Grover). Jahaan dekho, wahaan Aamir Khan ki imitation karne waali Reel pe Reel dikh rahi hai.”
Navjot also revealed, “I met a woman at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. She was 80 and was on an inclined bed. I asked her, 'Main aapki kya khidmat kar sakta hoon'. She replied, ‘Beta, Kapil ko bolna ki aap sabne meri maut ko aasaan kar diya hai. Main apna dard bhool jaati show dekh ke'.”
He ended his speech by expressing, “I'll not die till I see The Kapil Sharma Show performers being bestowed with Padma Shri.”
