Anurag Kashyap’s Mukkabaaz completed eight years yesterday. The film became a turning point for its lead actor Vineet Kumar Singh. He looked back at the movie in an interview with us.
How do you look back on the experience of playing the struggling boxer?
Mukkabaaz is a very special film for me. It is very close to my heart. And eight years of Mukkabaaz have been completed. Whenever I look back, I feel that whatever I tried for Mukkabaaz, whatever I thought and whatever difficulties I faced, I felt that all that hard work is worth it. Because of Mukkabaaz, a lot of things that have happened in my career or in my personal life, somewhere Mukkabaaz has played a very special role in it.
Mukkabaaz rooted your career
If I talk about 2025, then somewhere Mukkabaaz is the reason I have got a special identity. And so it feels good. Whenever I look back, I feel that whatever I did, I did it right. Because this is a film because of which I got all the opportunities. Even today, wherever I go, people talk about Mukkabaaz.
The boxer’s struggle is everyone’s struggle
People have been touched by the film. People's hearts have been touched. This feels good. And I am so grateful. And those people, who indirectly and indirectly helped in making Mukkabaaz, who stood with me, I am so so grateful to them, sir. And when you get to play such a role as an actor, it is a very fulfilling feeling. It feels like when something happens in this way, then it stays with you all your life. And this is a very special chapter of my life, whatever the book is, that book is still being written, but this is a chapter of my life, which will always be special for me.
