Dhanush opens up about the theatrical release of Jagame Thandhiram for the first time : Bollywood News

Due to theatres shutting down in mid-march last year owing to the pandemic, several film makers opted to release their films on streaming platforms, while some makers also opted to wait for theatres to resume. Starting February 1, the Central government allowed theatres to operate at 100% occupancy. This led to fans demanding the release date of movies of their favourite superstars.

Down south, there were reports doing the rounds that Dhanush starrer Jagame Thandhiram will be released digitally skipping the theatrical release. However, this did not go down well with fans of the superstar. Recently, the makers of Dhanush starrer Karnan announced the theatrical release of the film.

However, on Tuesday evening, Dhanush took to his Twitter handle to speak about the release of the film. “I am hoping for the theatrical release of Jagame Thandiram like the theatre owners, exhibitors, distributors, cinema lovers and most of all my fans. Fingers crossed," he tweeted.

Earlier in January, Vijay's Master released in theatres with 50% occupancy with a thundering response. The film fared well at the box office despite the pandemic. Dhanush was also among the first to support the film and requested people to watch it in theatres. "Vijay sir's Master releases on Jan 13th. It's a great news for cinema lovers and I hope watching movies with friends and family helps to thrive the theatre culture once again. Nothing like a theatre experience. Please take all the safety precautions and watch the film in theatres,” he had tweeted.

Bankrolled by Y NOT Studios, Jagame Thandhiram is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and features Game of Thrones actor James Cosmo along with Kalaiyarasan, Joju George, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sanchana Natarajan.
