Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, who are often the talk of the town owing to their ‘off screen camaraderie’, have never accepted about their rumoured relationship. But their friendship is often seen when they come in support of each other. Recently, after the actress got embroiled in the deepfake controversy when a morphed video of her went viral, many celebrities took a stand along with her and joining the list of her supporters is Vijay too.

Vijay Deverakonda took to social media to share a photo of Rashmika Mandanna from an article which talked about the action being taken against deepfakes and along with that, he also posted a strong message indicating his unhappiness over the incident. He said, “Extremely important steps for the future. This shouldn't happen to anyone. Also an efficient accessible cyber wing for quick crackdowns and punishment will make people more secure.”

For the unversed, Rashmika Mandanna took to social media to share her reaction on the deepfake going viral and had said, “I feel really hurt to share this and have to talk about the deepfake video of me being spread online. Something like this is honestly, extremely scary not only for me, but also for each one of us who today is vulnerable to so much harm because of how technology is being misused.”

She went on to express her gratitude towards her close ones who came in support of her adding, “Today, as a woman and as an actor, I am thankful for my family, friends and well wishers who are my protection and support system. But if this happened to me when I was in school or college, I genuinely can’t imagine how could I ever tackle this. We need to address this as a community and with urgency before more of us are affected by such identity theft.”

Apart from Vijay, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan, South star Naga Chaitanya, among others also came in support of the actress, asserting action against the practice.
