A new development has emerged around the upcoming film Varanasi, directed by S. S. Rajamouli. SkyBlue Cinematix has secured exclusive worldwide brand integration rights for the project, marking a strategic partnership that aims to expand brand participation within the film’s narrative and global marketing ecosystem. For the unversed, the film features an international ensemble cast led by Mahesh Babu, with key roles played by Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
The agreement gives SkyBlue Cinematix the responsibility of managing brand collaborations and integrations associated with the film across international markets. The move is being positioned as an effort to bring brands into the storytelling framework rather than relying on traditional product placements.
Varanasi is also expected to introduce several technical milestones. According to the announcement, the film will be the first Indian production to be shot in the 1.43:1 IMAX format, aiming to create a large-format cinematic experience. The project is currently slated for a worldwide theatrical release in 2027 and is expected to reach audiences in more than 120 countries.
Speaking about the collaboration, Rajamouli said, “Varanasi is mounted on an enormous scale, both creatively and technically. Every collaboration helps the film reach wider audiences meaningfully. I hope our partnership with SkyBlue Cinematix integrates global brands organically and respectfully into its rooted world.”
Under the agreement, SkyBlue Cinematix will develop what it describes as narrative-based brand integrations designed to align with the film’s storytelling across different timelines and locations featured in the plot. Commenting on the partnership, Dato’ Manikandamurthy Velayoudam, Group Chairman of SkyBlue Group, said, “To be entrusted by S. S. Rajamouli with the global brand integration mandate for the film is both an honor and a responsibility. This film is not merely a production — it is a global cinematic movement. Rajamouli, known for directing large-scale productions that reach audiences across multiple regions, is currently working on this venture as his next major project. The film is described as a globetrotting action-adventure that blends elements of mythology and contemporary storytelling. The music for the film will be composed by Academy Award-winning composer M. M. Keeravani.
With production underway and its release targeted for 2027, Varanasi is expected to be one of the major Indian film projects planned for a large-scale international rollout in the coming years.
