Actress Trisha Krishnan has responded strongly to remarks made by filmmaker-actor R. Parthiban during a recent award ceremony, after his comments about her began circulating widely on social media. Without naming him directly in her post, the actress shared a pointed statement on X (formerly Twitter), addressing what she described as an unwarranted public remark made during the event.

Trisha Krishnan hits back at R. Parthiban after his remark at award event: “A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous”

Taking to the platform, Trisha wrote, “I was informed by the organisers of a recent event that my name and picture were included at the last minute at the request of an individual conveyed through his assistant. A microphone doesn’t make a comment intelligent or humorous. It just makes stupidity louder. Crude words without knowledge say more about the speaker than the person they’re aimed at.”

Her response quickly gained traction online, with fans and industry observers sharing the post widely and weighing in on the controversy. While the actress did not directly mention Parthiban in her statement, the timing and context of the post led many to link it to comments made by the filmmaker during the ceremony.

During the event, Parthiban had spoken about actors he has worked with and referred to his Ponniyin Selvan co-star Trisha Krishnan. In his remarks, he alluded to the ongoing chatter surrounding the actress and suggested that it might be better for her to stay away from the spotlight for some time. Parthiban said, “Indha Kundavaiye konjaneram kunthavaikkirathu nallath (It is better to ask this Kundavai to sit at home for a while)”, and continued, "It is better if she doesn't step out because it is creating a lot of issues."

His statement appeared to reference the recent online buzz that erupted after Trisha was seen attending a wedding alongside actor Thalapathy Vijay. The appearance sparked widespread speculation on social media, especially as Vijay has recently been in the news for multiple reasons, including the media storm surrounding the release of Jana Nayagan as well as reports about his separation from his wife Sangeetha, which have fuelled rumours of an alleged extra-marital affair with an actress.

Trisha’s presence at the wedding alongside Vijay therefore became a talking point across several online platforms, with fans and commentators closely scrutinising the images and videos from the event.

As Parthiban’s remarks from the award function began circulating online, they triggered debate among fans of both actors. Trisha’s sharp response has now further amplified the discussion, with many supporters praising her for addressing the comment publicly.

For now, neither Parthiban nor the organisers of the event have issued an additional statement regarding the exchange.
