Thandel: Digital rights of Naga Chaitanya starrer gets acquired by Netflix for Rs. 40 crores : Bollywood News

Naga Chaitanya and Chandoo Mondeti joined forces for the third time for a beautiful rural backdrop love story Thandel which is progressing with its shoot which will also feature Sai Pallavi as the female lead. Now reports have it that Netflix has obtained the digital rights of Thandel for all South Indian and Hindi languages for a staggering price of Rs 40 crores.

A source close to the film added, “This is the biggest digital deal for Naga Chaitanya. The movie has been carrying a strong buzz, ever since it was announced. The first look, teaser, and other promos were also well-received. And now, the film’s business started on a massive note. We believe that Naga Chaitanya is one of the most bankable stars, and Chandoo Mondeti has delivered the biggest hit of his career to date with Karthikeya 2, and with Geetha Arts being one of the biggest production houses in India, we believe that Thandel to get such a fancy offer.

Set against the backdrop of the sea and the lives of fishermen, apart from a beautiful love story, Thandel will also have patriotic elements, and it has also been portrayed in the teaser which was released quite some time ago. Speaking about the movie being inspired by real-life events, Naga Chaitanya had told Zig Wheels, “Thandel is a film I’ve been working on for quite some time; it’s a very special film for me. Firstly, I’ve never attempted this kind of character or texture. It’s based on some true incidents in 2018 involving these fishermen from Srikakulam. Usually, they go to Gujarat and go fishing from there. On one of their trips, they drifted off into Pakistan's borders and got caught.”

Talking about the crew of the film, Shamdat cranks the camera, while Rockstar Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music. Srinagendra Tangala is the art director. Allu Aravind presents the film is produced by Bunny Vasu under the banner Geetha Arts, with the film aiming at a release this year.
