Tamil actor Vivek passes away at 59; Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mammootty and others pay tribute

Tamil actor Vivek passed away at the age of 59 in a Chennai hospital early on April 17 after suffering from a cardiac arrest. Since the news of his death, the film industry, politicians and fans are paying tribute to the legendary icon.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami expressed his condolences in a statement that read, “it is an irreparable loss to the Tamil film industry”.

Superstars Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Mohanlal, Mamootty among others took to social media to pay tribute. Rajinikanth recalled working with Vivek in 2007 on S. Shankar’s Sivaji: The Boss and wrote, “Jr Kalaivanar, social activist, and my close friend, Vivek. His demise has caused me a lot of pain. I can never forget the time I shared with him during the making of Sivaji. My deep condolences to his family. Let his soul rest in peace.”
