SS Rajamouli wants to direct Mahabharata: ‘That would probably be a 10-year project’ : Bollywood News

Filmmaker SS Rajamouli is basking in the glory of RRR, which starred Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn. The film, which released back in March 2022, went on to become a blockbuster. It also created a huge buzz in the West. With two Golden Globes nominations and multiple accolades in the West, the buzz around the Academy Awards is swelling. The song ‘Naatu Naatu’ has been shortlisted already for Best Original Song. While Rajamouli is busy with the pre-production of his next Oscars 2023 campaign, he certainly has a dream project he wants to direct someday.

SS Rajamouli wants to direct Mahabharata: ‘That would probably be a 10-year project’

Speaking to Deadline, when asked what’s his dream project, SS Rajamouli replied by saying, “Like I said, for a long time I wanted to do a big-scale war film, but that I have done with Baahubali, so my goal, or my dream, has been fulfilled. So, the biggest one for me would be to direct Mahabharata, the Indian epic. That would probably be a 10-year project. That would be my biggest dream. Hopefully, one day I’ll do that.”

When asked if the audiences are ready to go back to the theatres, he added, “They are. They will. They’re already going to the big screens. The experience of watching a film in your home, or on your small screen, is not going to give you the essence of the movie. You have to make people feel like they have to go to the theater and watch it. If you can give them that confidence if you can give them that push with your trailers and promotional stuff, they’re going to come to the theatre space.”

Meanwhile, SS Rajamouli is gearing up for the shoot for his next with Mahesh Babu.
