SS Rajamouli on MM Keeravaani receiving Padma Shri, “This recognition indeed was long overdue” : Bollywood News

With the hard work of more than three decades, composer MM Keeravaani has created history with his song ‘Naatu Naatu’ (from RRR) being nominated for the Oscars 2023. A few days back, the song won the Best Original Song at the 80th Golden Globe Awards. It seems the limit is sky for the composer this year. After making himself a known name across the globe, the renowned composer has now been bestowed with the Padma Shri Award in the field of arts. Reacting to the same, director of RRR SS Rajamouli has penned an emotional note for him.

On Republic Day, Rajamouli took to his verified Instagram handle and shared a post dedicated to the achievement of Keeravaani. He shared a photo of him featuring with the composer. In the caption he wrote, “Like many of your fans feel, this recognition indeed was long overdue. But, as you say the universe has a strange way of rewarding one's efforts.”

The RRR director further added, “If I can talk back to universe, I would say Konchem gap ivvamma. okati poorthigaa enjoy chesaaka inkoti ivvu (After enjoying one completely, give another one).” He concluded by writing, “MY PEDDANNA. / MM KEERAVAANI. / RECIPIENT OF PADMA SHRI AWARD. / PROUD!!!”

Apart from MM Keeravaani, actress Raveena Tandon is also honoured with Padma Shri. Zakir Hussain has been bestowed with Padma Vibhushan while singers Vani Jairam and Suman Kalyanpur have been bestowed with Padma Bhushan. The artists were named on the list of Padma Awardees on Wednesday, a night before the 74th Republic Day. The awards will be presented by the President of India at a ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

While speaking exclusively to Bollywood Hungama, Raveena Tandon reacted on the news saying, “I woke up today to the news that I have been awarded the Padma Shri by my Government. I felt all my years of hard work has finally come to fruition. I can’t wait to get back to Mumbai. My husband (film distributor Anil Thadani) who is in Mumbai had no clue about it. I had to inform him that his wife is now Padma Sri Raveena.”
