On Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Shruti Haasan shared that her childhood was marked by “creativity and chaos.” Although she was raised in an atheist environment, she eventually discovered her own sense of spirituality. She noted that her father never imposed his beliefs on her and allowed her to explore her path freely. “We grew up in an atheist home; a non-religious home. My dad hates it when I say this, but we didn’t have God at home. None of that stuff that other homes have. It’s so alien, the concept of religion and God,” she said.

Shruti Haasan went on to say, “Somewhere, in my child brain, I knew art was God. Every day of the week would be devoted to artistic endeavors.” She described her father as “emotionally esoteric,” which benefits him as an actor, but noted that he remains “extremely pragmatic” in daily life. “He can gauge people better than therapists, because he’s been acting since four, so has my mom… He has become more relaxed as a human being; now, with age, he has become more mellow,” she shared. While Shruti acknowledged that her parents’ varied interests shaped her, she added that there were boundaries. “If you went and said astrology to my dad, he’d be like, ‘Get out’.”

Shruti Haasan expressed her belief in the transference of feminine power through generations, which led her to nature-based faiths like Paganism and Wicca. “I think it has something to do with the matriarchal line of my family. It’s the women ancestors before me, and I can seriously feel that, which is why I moved towards Wicca and Pagan worship,” she said. Quoting a phrase that deeply resonates with her, she added, “There was this beautiful saying, ‘We are the granddaughters of the witches you couldn’t burn’, and I love that. I feel the bloodline of my female ancestors.”

In the same interview, Shruti spoke about her rebellious nature and said she feels for her “poor father,” who has seen it from early on but never restricted her choices. “He hates tattoos,” she said, revealing she has five.

Shruti was last seen in the 2023 releases Veera Simha Reddy, Waltair Veerayya, The Eye, Hi Nanna, and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire. She is currently filming Coolie with Lokesh Kanagaraj, Jana Nayagan directed by H Vinoth, and Train by Mysskin.
