Actor-producer Samantha Ruth Prabhu is currently shooting for her upcoming production venture Maa Inti Bangaram, a film that places her at the centre of an action-driven narrative. Backed by her banner Tralala Moving Pictures along with producing partners Raj Nidimoru and Himank Duvurruu, the project is shaping up as one of her more physically demanding roles to date, with Samantha reportedly performing most of the film’s action and stunt sequences herself.

What has particularly caught attention is the visual choice associated with these sequences. For the first time in her career, Samantha is executing high-impact action scenes while dressed in a saree — a stylistic decision that blends traditional attire with physically intense choreography. The approach marks a departure from conventional action styling and aims to integrate grounded realism with cultural aesthetics, while minimising the use of body doubles.
Having previously showcased her action credentials in The Family Man and Citadel, Maa Inti Bangaram sees Samantha further exploring the genre in a setting that combines physical combat with emotional undercurrents. According to sources, the role demanded sustained physical preparation, especially given the nature of the stunts and the restrictive costume design involved.
A source close to the film shares, “After The Family Man and Citadel, Samantha wanted to challenge herself further. In Maa Inti Bangaram, she’s doing most of the action herself - and doing it in a saree. It’s physically demanding and visually powerful, a portrayal audiences rarely get to see.”
The film is being mounted with a technically strong team. Cinematographer Om Prakash is shaping the film’s visual palette, while Santhosh Narayanan is composing the music, expected to add emotional weight to the narrative. International action director Lee Whittaker has been roped in to design the stunt sequences, with an emphasis on realism and impact rather than stylised spectacle. The film’s production design is handled by Ullas Hydur, and Pallavi Singh’s costume design plays a functional role in balancing mobility with authenticity.
Directed by Nandini Reddy, with Raj Nidimoru serving as the film’s creative force, Maa Inti Bangaram is positioned as an action drama rooted in emotion and character rather than scale alone.
Speaking about the film’s intent, producer and Tralala Moving Pictures partner Himank Duvvuru said, “Maa Inti Bangaram was envisioned as a story rooted in emotion and values but told with the scale and energy of a true action spectacle. Samantha taking on the challenge of performing most of the action herself, and doing it in a saree, brings a rare, powerful authenticity to the film. Bringing together world-class technicians was a conscious choice to ensure the vision is executed with global finesse while staying deeply Indian at heart.”
With filming underway, Maa Inti Bangaram marks another step in Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s growing involvement in shaping content both in front of and behind the camera.
